The documentary L'animal et le maître addresses the sensitive issue of animal law in Canada. The laws vary from one province to another, from one species to another, but especially according to the animal's usefulness to man and its economic value. As real property in some provinces, recognized as sentient beings in Quebec, farm, companion or wild animals may be included in the laws, but they are not entitled to the same treatment.
