Each year in Quebec, from May through November, hundreds of men head up into the woods. They’re called Bushmen. But since around the year 2000, a minor upheaval is taking place in our forests: about 80% of the new lumberjacks are from Africa! With names like Mamadou, Asani and Drissa – six days a week, ten hours a day, they operate their dangerous machinery, moving through terrain full of obstacles. At the end of the harsh road? A better life for them and their families in a new land, and the pride of having helped contribute towards developing Quebec’s forests of the future…
